The mount of the lens is brass, and the external and internal parts have been made of Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) which enhances the high quality construction of the lens. The Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens has Sigma's Multi-Layer Coating to help reduce flare and ghosting, and improve contrast and sharpness.

This lens has been designed for use with crop sensor cameras.
